ETHIOPIA - Beyene Dori - Yirgacheffe

Beyene Dori is a respected smallholder coffee farmer from Wegida Village in Yirgacheffe District, Gedeo Zone, Ethiopia. Now in his early eighties, he continues to actively manage 3.5 hectares of coffee, most of which is planted with the local landrace variety Kurume.
 


Beyene’s coffee journey began in childhood. Raised by his grandparents in Tulise Village, he inherited his first coffee farm from them and learned traditional coffee farming practices through years of working alongside them. His grandparents supplied red coffee cherries to nearby washing stations and sold dried cherries to local collectors.
